What Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon Actually Is
Eagle Rare 10 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Unlike many bourbons without an age statement, every bottle of Eagle Rare is aged for a minimum of 10 years in new charred American oak barrels. The additional aging creates a mature, balanced bourbon with excellent depth while maintaining an approachable character.
It's one of the best-known age-stated bourbons available and continues to be one of Buffalo Trace's most sought-after releases.

Tasting Notes (Our Experience)
Eagle Rare immediately impressed us with how balanced it feels from the very first sip.
It's a bourbon that somehow manages to feel both deep and light at the same time. Rich notes of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and gentle baking spice provide plenty of flavour, yet the overall profile never becomes heavy or overwhelming.
Everything is exceptionally well integrated. The sweetness, oak, and spice work together beautifully, creating a bourbon that feels polished and refined from beginning to end.
The finish is long, warm, and incredibly smooth. It leaves a pleasant lingering warmth without excessive burn, making it a bourbon that's easy to sip slowly and revisit throughout the evening.
What stood out most to us was just how approachable it is. Whether you're newer to bourbon or have an experienced palate, Eagle Rare delivers a consistently enjoyable experience that is easy to appreciate.

Is Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon Worth It in Canada?
Absolutely.
If you can find Eagle Rare near retail pricing, we think it's one of the best values in premium bourbon - which is much harder in Canada compared to the US.
The 10 years of maturation provide excellent complexity without sacrificing drinkability. It's refined enough for experienced bourbon drinkers while remaining approachable for those just beginning to explore premium whiskey.
Considering the quality in the glass, it's difficult to find many bottles that offer this level of balance at a similar price.
Can You Actually Find It in Canada?
Finding Eagle Rare in Canada has become increasingly difficult.
Since Ontario stopped selling U.S. bourbon, we haven't been able to purchase a bottle of Eagle Rare in Canada at all. While it occasionally appears through allocations or in other provinces, it's become one of the hardest bourbons for us to find.
If you happen to come across a bottle at retail, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend picking it up.
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon vs Blanton's Single Barrel (Quick Take)
Eagle Rare 10 Year: More oak-forward, mature, and exceptionally balanced.
Blanton's Single Barrel: Sweeter, more honey-forward, and slightly richer.
Both are outstanding bourbons, but Eagle Rare leans toward elegance and balance, while Blanton's offers a sweeter and more expressive profile.

Final Thoughts
Eagle Rare 10 Year is one of those bourbons that's easy to recommend to almost anyone.
It strikes an exceptional balance between richness and drinkability, delivering mature flavours, impressive depth, and a smooth finish that keeps you coming back for another sip.
It's also one of the biggest crowd favourites we've shared with friends and family. Time after time, people come away impressed by how approachable, balanced, and enjoyable it is.
Unfortunately, it's also become one of the most difficult bourbons for us to find. Since Ontario stopped selling U.S. bourbon, we haven't been able to add another bottle to our shelf, which has only made us appreciate it even more.
If you ever spot Eagle Rare at a fair retail price, we think it's absolutely worth buying. The quality, consistency, and value make it one of the standout bourbons we've had the pleasure of reviewing.
Final Score: 88/100
