Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon is an uncut and non-chill filtered bourbon that delivers a full-strength, flavour-packed experience from the first sip through an exceptionally long finish.
Aged for eight years and bottled from a single barrel, this is the kind of bourbon that immediately makes an impression. Rather than slowly building flavour throughout the sip, it hits you with a ton of flavour right away, then transitions into one of the most prominent long, warm finishes we've experienced.
We were excited to try this bottle, and it absolutely delivered where it matters most to us: taste. This is a bourbon that doesn't leave you wondering where the flavour went.
Highlights
Huge flavour from the first sip — Plenty of flavour arrives immediately and stays present throughout the experience.
Very long, warm finish — The finish is the standout, lingering well after the sip is over.
Uncut & non-chill filtered — Bottled at full strength and without chill filtration to retain its natural character.

What Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel Bourbon Actually Is
Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged for eight years before being bottled as a single barrel expression.
The "single barrel" designation means the bourbon comes from one individual barrel rather than being blended across multiple barrels. That allows each barrel to develop its own unique character.
This expression is also uncut and non-chill filtered, meaning it isn't diluted down to a lower proof and isn't chill filtered before bottling. Current Old Louisville 8-year single-barrel releases are offered at varying barrel proofs depending on the specific barrel.
That combination of age, single-barrel character, and full-strength bottling makes this a particularly interesting bottle for bourbon drinkers who want something with plenty of intensity.

Tasting Notes (Our Experience)
Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel immediately delivers a ton of flavour. From the very first sip, the bourbon comes in with plenty of character. There's no waiting around for the flavour to develop—you get a strong, full bourbon experience right away.
But what really stood out to us was the finish. This bourbon delivers a very long, warm finish that continues well after you've swallowed the sip. The warmth builds and lingers, giving the bourbon a lasting presence that makes you want to go back for another taste.
And importantly, when we say warm, we don't mean that the finish is simply a harsh burn.
There's a difference between heat and an unpleasant burn, and this bourbon's finish feels much more like a prolonged warming sensation that carries the flavour with it.
The result is a bourbon that genuinely delivers on taste.
We found ourselves getting plenty of flavour at the beginning of the sip, followed by that long, prominent finish that keeps the experience going. It's the kind of pour where you can take your time with the glass and still have plenty happening long after each sip.
For us, that's exactly what we want from a higher-proof, single-barrel bourbon.

Is Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel Bourbon Worth It in Canada?
For bourbon drinkers who prioritize flavour and intensity, we think this bottle has a lot going for it.
The biggest selling point for us is simple: it delivers on taste.
The combination of immediate flavour and an exceptionally long, warm finish makes this a memorable pour. It's not trying to be an ultra-light, casual bourbon. Instead, it gives you a full-strength experience with plenty of character.
The eight years of aging also give it the maturity you'd expect from an older bourbon, while the single-barrel format means there's an added element of individuality to the bottle.
Can You Actually Find It in Canada?
This is a tough bottle for Canadian bourbon fans to track down. We've never seen any Old Louisville products available in Canada, and we actually had to cross the border into the U.S. to get this bottle ourselves.
That made finally getting our hands on the 8 Year Single Barrel even more exciting. If you're a Canadian bourbon fan making a trip across the border and happen to see an Old Louisville bottle, we'd definitely recommend taking a closer look.
For us, this was a bottle worth making the road trip for, especially given how much flavour and that incredibly long, warm finish it delivers.
Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel Bourbon vs Wild Turkey Rare Breed (Quick Take)
Wild Turkey Rare Breed: Higher-proof, bold, spicy, and consistently flavourful across bottles.
Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel: More individual barrel character, huge flavour from the beginning, and an exceptionally long, warm finish.
If you're looking for a reliable high-proof bourbon, Rare Breed is a popular choice.
If you're looking for something a little more unique and enjoy exploring single barrels, Old Louisville is the more interesting option.
Canadian Alternative We Think Is Worth It
If you enjoy Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel and want to try a Canadian bottle with a similar focus on bold flavour and a long, warm finish, we recommend:
Maverick Barnburner Cask 7YO Bourbon
It offers:
A bold, flavour-forward profile
Rich, layered bourbon character
A long, warm lingering finish
Remarkable smoothness for its 60% ABV proof
A Canadian-bottled take on Kentucky bourbon
It's also one of our favourite high-proof Canadian bourbon options we've tried.
Best Ways We Drink It
Neat
With a few drops of water
Over one large ice cube
Slowly, to appreciate the long finish
For a bourbon at this strength, we'd recommend trying it neat first and then adding a small amount of water. A little dilution can help open up additional flavours without taking away from the intensity that makes this bottle special.
Final Thoughts
Old Louisville 8 Year Single Barrel is a bourbon that delivers on taste.
From the first sip, you get a ton of flavour followed by a very long, prominent warm finish that lingers well after the sip. The warmth is noticeable without becoming an unpleasant burn, making the finish one of our favourite parts of the bottle.
Being 8 years old, single barrel, uncut, and non-chill filtered, it delivers the intensity and character we look for in a higher-proof bourbon.
This is also a bottle Old Louisville sent to us, and we're incredibly grateful for the opportunity to try it. We've never seen Old Louisville products in Canada, so getting to experience this bottle was especially exciting.
For Canadians looking for a similar experience, Maverick Barnburner Cask 7YO Bourbon is a great alternative, offering bold flavour, high proof, and a long, warm finish.
