Tasting Notes (Our Experience)
The first thing we noticed with Black Fox Triticosecale was how incredibly smooth it is.
It's an easy sip from the beginning, with a pleasant sweetness and plenty of flavour without any harshness getting in the way.
For us, that's a huge part of the appeal.
We don't always need a whisky to be incredibly powerful or intense to enjoy it. Sometimes we just want something that tastes great and is easy to keep sipping—and this bottle does exactly that.
There's a nice grain character throughout, along with softer sweet notes and enough depth to keep the whisky interesting. Black Fox's own tasting notes include crème brûlée, cinnamon, clove, citrus zest, butterscotch, baked cherry, anise, and white pepper.
And perhaps our favourite part?
We get almost no burn from it.
That makes this a whisky we can sit down with and simply enjoy.

More importantly, we genuinely love this whisky.
It's incredibly smooth, flavourful, and easy to drink, and we think it's one of the best Canadian bourbon alternatives we've found. So while we'd love to see the price a little lower, we can understand it more when you factor in the unique grain, farm-to-glass production, Canadian craftsmanship, and how much we actually enjoy the bottle.
For us, it's worth trying—especially if you're a bourbon drinker looking for something genuinely different from Canada.
