Taste

Koval Single Barrel Bourbon delivers a lighter, more delicate profile compared to traditional bourbons. Instead of bold oak and heavy spice, it leans into softer, brighter flavours with a smooth and refreshing character that feels especially suited for warmer weather.


We’ll be honest — this was not one of our favourite bottles overall, mainly because we usually prefer richer, more traditional bourbon profiles. That said, we’re still very glad we tried it because there really is nothing quite like it. Its unique organic style and summery feel make it stand out from the crowd.


It also feels like a bottle we’ll appreciate even more during the summer months, especially in bourbon cocktails where its lighter, refreshing profile could work extremely well.

Koval Single Barrel Bourbon sits in the premium price category in Canada due to its organic production and single barrel nature. While it may not deliver the bold, classic bourbon richness some drinkers expect for the price, its uniqueness and smooth, refreshing character make it worthwhile for those wanting something different from the standard bourbon experience.


Availability in Canada

Koval can be a little harder to find than major mainstream bourbon brands in Canada, with availability varying by province. It tends to appear more often through specialty releases, craft spirit selections, and larger liquor retailers rather than being consistently stocked everywhere.


Final Thoughts

Koval Single Barrel Bourbon probably won’t become our go-to bottle, but we’re genuinely glad we had the chance to try it. Its light, smooth, and summery character delivers a completely different experience from most bourbons on the market. While the unique profile may not suit everyone’s personal taste preferences, it’s still a fascinating and memorable pour that stands out for doing something different.


It’s also a bottle we fully plan to revisit during the summer months, particularly for bourbon cocktails and lighter warm-weather pours where its refreshing style may feel even more at home.
