Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon Review Canada: Tasting Notes, Value & Alternatives (2026)

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that delivers an impressive age statement at a surprisingly approachable price. While Pendleton is best known for its Canadian whisky lineup, this 10-year bourbon offers bourbon fans the chance to enjoy a well-aged Kentucky whiskey without paying the premium often associated with double-digit age statements.

We were excited to try this bottle because finding a 10-year bourbon for around $50 USD is becoming increasingly rare. After spending time with it, we came away thinking it's an easy-drinking, well-balanced bourbon that may not be the most flavourful bottle we've tried, but delivers outstanding value for the money.

What Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon Actually Is

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged for a full decade in new charred American oak barrels.

Unlike Pendleton's Canadian whisky offerings, this expression is a traditional Kentucky bourbon that showcases the balance and maturity that can come from extended aging. Rather than being bold or oak-heavy, it leans toward a lighter, more approachable style that's easy to enjoy.

Tasting Notes (Our Experience)

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon immediately stood out for how easy it is to drink.

From the first sip, it offers a light, approachable profile with classic bourbon notes of caramel, vanilla, gentle oak, and subtle baking spice. Everything feels balanced and smooth, making it an effortless bourbon to sip neat.

While we enjoyed the overall experience, we didn't find it to be one of the most flavour-packed or complex bourbons we've tried. The flavours remain fairly light throughout and never become especially bold or layered.

That said, we don't necessarily see that as a negative. The lighter profile makes it approachable for a wide range of drinkers, especially those who prefer smooth, easy-drinking bourbons over high-proof or heavily oaked expressions.

Who We Think This Bourbon Is For

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon works best if you:

  • Enjoy smooth, easy-drinking bourbon

  • Appreciate older whiskey without heavy oak

  • Want excellent value for your money

  • Prefer lighter flavour profiles

  • Mostly drink bourbon neat

Skip it (or look elsewhere) if you:

  • Prefer bold, flavour-packed bourbon

  • Want rich oak and spice

  • Enjoy high-proof whiskey

Is Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon Worth It in Canada?

Absolutely.

The biggest reason we'd recommend this bottle isn't because it's the most complex bourbon we've ever had—it's because of the value.

Finding a 10-year Kentucky bourbon for around $50 USD is becoming increasingly uncommon. While there are bourbons with richer or more layered flavour profiles, very few offer this combination of age, drinkability, and affordability.

If you're looking for maximum flavour, there are better options. But if you're looking for an older bourbon that won't break the bank, Pendleton 10 Year delivers.

Can You Actually Find It in Canada?

Availability varies depending on where you live.

It's generally easier to find than many allocated bourbons, although distribution isn't as widespread as some larger Kentucky brands.

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon vs Eagle Rare 10 Year (Quick Take)

Eagle Rare 10 Year: Richer, deeper, and more complex.

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon: Lighter, smoother, and offers exceptional value for a 10-year bourbon.

If you're chasing the best overall flavour, we'd choose Eagle Rare. If you're looking for one of the best values in the 10-year bourbon category, Pendleton is a fantastic option. Both are great value buys for MSRP.

Canadian Alternative We Think Is Worth It

If you enjoy Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon and want a Canadian whisky with a similarly smooth, approachable profile, we recommend:

John Sleeman & Sons Traditional Straight Whisky

It offers:

  • A rich, bourbon-inspired flavour profile

  • Smooth, easy-drinking character

  • Sweet notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak

One of the closest Canadian alternatives to a traditional Kentucky bourbon that we've tried

While Pendleton benefits from its 10-year age statement, John Sleeman & Sons delivers more depth and flavour while maintaining the same approachable sipping experience.

Best Ways We Drink It

  • Neat

  • With a splash of water

  • Over a large ice cube

  • As an everyday sipper

Final Thoughts

Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon isn't trying to be the boldest or most complex bourbon on the shelf—and that's perfectly okay.

Instead, it delivers a smooth, light, and approachable drinking experience that's incredibly easy to enjoy. While we would have liked a little more depth and intensity, we still found it to be a very enjoyable pour.

The biggest standout for us is the value. Paying around $50 USD for a 10-year Kentucky bourbon is difficult to argue with, especially in today's bourbon market. Age statements like this typically command much higher prices, making Pendleton 10 Year one of the better value buys we've come across.

If you're looking for a flavour bomb, this probably isn't the bottle for you. But if you want an affordable, well-aged bourbon that's easy to sip and offers outstanding value, Pendleton 10 Year Bourbon is an easy recommendation.

Final Score: 76/100
